Sticky Note Reminders for the Christian NT Wife

When the hard times hit, and the INSANITY you feel in your NT/AS marriage begins to take over . . .

It helps to hear over and over, again and again, the little reminders that bring back some semblance of sane.

1.  This is neurological wiring of the brain.

2.  You must drop your "NT" expectations! The surest way to avoid disappointment is not to expect anything from others.

3.   This is a very difficult trial to live with.

4.  This lonely trial can and should draw you closer to Christ, depending on Him as your very closest friend.

5.  This fiery trial is ordained by God for your good, to sanctify you (which is just a theological word for make you more like Christ).

And most importantly, remember to "above all, fervently love one another."  1 Peter 1:22

  1. Thank you. Your sticky note approach brought me a smile! Yes - I, too, want to love deeper. Thank you for sharing!

  2. Was feeling particularly insane again last night - so frustrated. But then I read about AS (AGAIN) and felt better because I KNOW HE DOESN'T MEAN IT. Have you read "The essential difference" by Simon Baron-Cohen - it is based on his research of sex differences, your husband might be more interested in this approach as he proposes that the autism spectrum is 'extreme male brain' which probably seems less judgemental than a 'diagnosis'. And the chapter on AS suggests that those men who are 'successful' enough to sustain a marriage relationship do so because they have a "saint of a partner" - I have to say that made me feel better and inspired me like #5 in your sticky.

  3. I have not read that but now I will. Thank you!
